After losing 3-2 at Preston on Saturday and being eliminated from the FA Cup by non-league team Maidstone United, Town has now dropped two successive games for the first time since October 2022.

They now sit fourth in the Championship, their lowest ranking in months, as a result of that performance.

Luongo claims the Blues feel unpressured despite their dismal recent performance, which includes just two victories in ten games across all competitions.

He clarified, “We don’t enter games thinking that we have to win because of where we are; we just need to close the gap or put so and so behind us.” “We have a plan of attack before the game.

“To get us to this point and to play the way we do, the manager and coaching staff have done an amazing job.”

“On matchday, it makes things much easier.” We only need to put into practice what he has given us to accomplish and what we have been practicing; all the pressure is taken off of us since he bears it all.

“We accomplish it, but the other teams won’t fold and stand by while we do it. They clearly provide a significant obstacle.”

Town hopes to pick up steam this weekend when they play West Brom, now in fifth position, on Saturday at 12.30 p.m., the first of nine games against teams currently sitting in the bottom half of the table.

Luongo said that the Blues won’t be concerned about what other people think about their prospects of getting promoted because they have their supporters on their side.

After the Preston loss, he emphasized, “We just have to keep going.””The support has been incredible, like, wow, even today. I believe they are grateful for the return.

“They obviously don’t want to see us trailing 3-0 at the half, but if you watch that game, you’ll see that we fought back ferociously to tie the score. We performed some excellent music.

“We just put our heads down and worry about next Saturday; we never worry about what other people think.”
