George Hirst, the striker for Ipswich Town, is being considered as a potential player in tomorrow’s match against Hull City. One of the teams competing with Leeds United for straight promotion has received positive news regarding two injured players, which will benefit them in the remaining matches of the Championship. Kieran McKenna, the head coach of Ipswich Town, has announced that winger Wes Burns and striker George Hirst will be included in the team that will travel to face Hull City, who are currently vying for a spot in the play-offs, tomorrow.
Burns has been absent from the team since sustaining an injury during their dominant 6-0 victory over Sheffield Wednesday last month, while Hirst has not made an appearance in 2024 due to a hamstring injury. “Both of them have participated in the group training sessions this week,” stated McKenna. “That is highly advantageous for us.”
Hirst, the offspring of former England forward David, has been absent from 18 matches due to injury. McKenna said: “He’s been out for quite a long period, but he’s a fit boy. He’s trained for a fair period of time now and we’re not going to save anything back in the last week.
“He, like the rest of the players, is eager to have a significant role in the final week.” It’s nice to have him back, and I believe the contribution right across the team is going to be incredibly vital with three games in a short length of time.
“We’re going to need different people to come up at different moments. That’s why we’ve hopefully got a great squad here.”
