Ipswich Town: Kieran McKenna looks ahead to Swansea City clash | East Anglian Daily Times

Kieran McKenna, the manager of Ipswich Town, is aware that his squad must play “with great energy” if they hope to defeat Swansea City tomorrow.

The fourth-place Blues want to continue their winning streak after a thrilling 4-0 triumph at Millwall on Wednesday night.

Swansea, currently ranked 17th in the Championship table, have lost badly to teams like Southampton, Leicester, and Leeds recently as they’ve had to get used to the new manager Luke Williams’ attacking philosophy.

Prior to the 270-mile journey to South Wales, McKenna stated, “We’re still less than 48 hours after the Millwall game, so everyone is still recovering, but we seem to have come through that with no problems.”

“Today will be a short practice, then at three on Saturday we’ll get back into it.

“There is no denying that this game will need a lot of effort. They play a very possession-based game, so stopping them and trying to generate chances ourselves will need a lot of work off the ball. We’re going to require some new appendages.

Luke hasn’t been there very long, but it’s clear what he wants to do. Both on and off the ball, they want to be a tremendously upbeat and aggressive club. The stadium and pitch are both excellent. We’re going there to try to dominate the game, and I have no doubt that they’ll try to do the same. It ought to be a fun competition.

The Blues are still without Janoi Donacien (groin), Jack Taylor (quad), and George Hirst (hamstring), and Brandon Williams hasn’t returned from his Manchester United loan yet.

For the team’s second away game in four days, George Edmundson, Lewis Travis, Conor Chaplin, Marcus Harness, Jeremy Sarmiento, and Ali Al-Hamadi are among the possibilities to come off the bench.
