Ipswich Town Set to Secure Manager McKenna With New Fantastic Deal Amid Growing Premier League Interests.

Ipswich manager Kieran McKenna is expected to sign a new contract, leading the club into their first Premier League season in years. McKenna was considered a contender to replace Mauricio Pochettino at Chelsea and was also linked with Manchester United. However, negotiations for a new deal at Portman Road are nearing completion, with only minor details remaining.

Recently named the League Managers Association’s manager of the year, McKenna guided Ipswich to promotion, ending their 22-year absence from the English top flight. This marks his second consecutive promotion since taking over in December 2021.

McKenna was on a shortlist for the Chelsea job alongside Brentford’s Thomas Frank and Enzo Maresca, who led Leicester to the Sky Bet Championship title. Reports now suggest Maresca is the leading candidate for the Stamford Bridge position.

A former Manchester United youth coach, McKenna was also linked with the vacant Brighton job and with Erik ten Hag’s role at Manchester United, despite Ten Hag’s recent FA Cup win in the Manchester derby.

Ipswich fans are likely to be pleased with McKenna’s renewed commitment to the club. He had signed a four-year contract last summer, which runs until 2027.
