Daniel Farke’s team was held to a 1-1 draw at Huddersfield Town on Saturday, ending Leeds United’s winning run in the Championship.

With Southampton’s thrilling victory over Birmingham City, Ipswich Town’s victory at Plymouth Argyle moved the Whites down to third, and now just eight points separate fourth place and league leaders Leicester City.

Even though Leicester dominated the majority of the season, there are still 11 games left in the competition, and the fight for the championship is gradually picking up steam. On Saturday, the Foxes suffered their third consecutive defeat as QPR prevailed 2-1.

This article from LeedsLive examines Leeds’ forthcoming schedule and how it stacks up against its championship competitors.

Tuesday, March 5 against Stoke City (H)

Leeds has a short turnaround as Stoke visits Elland Road on Tuesday evening. Despite being among the poorest players in the league in recent weeks, Steven Schumacher’s team defeated Middlesbrough 2-0 at home, moving them up to within one goal of the bottom three.

With all three of Leicester and Ipswich playing on the same night, these are the kinds of games in which Leeds just must win in order to guarantee their place in the top two.

Sheffield on Wednesday, March 8 (A).

Another match against a team struggling to survive at the bottom of the table, and another Yorkshire derby away from home for the Whites. Wednesday’s three victories in their last four games, including their victory against Rotherham on Saturday, have bolstered their chances of staying up.

This is yet another game where Farke will bet on his team to win three points.

Sunday, March 17, Millwall (H)

Returning to Elland Road, Millwall will attempt to thwart Leeds’ promotion attempt prior to the international break. In his second stint with the Lions, Neil Harris has won his first two games, including an unexpected 2-1 victory at Southampton.

Leeds crushed Millwall 3-0 in September, and supporters will be hoping for a repeat performance.

Watford (A) – March 29, Friday

Leeds travels to Vicarage Road to play midtable Watford to kick off the Easter weekend. The Hornets’ season has been uneven; they have dropped six of their last eight games in all competitions.

With any chance of a play-off finish virtually gone, Leeds will be looking to prolong their suffering.

Hull City (H) – April 1st Monday

On Easter Monday, three days later, Leeds greets Liam Rosenior’s side at Elland Road in front of the Sky Sports cameras. Given that the Tigers are presently holding the final play-off place, this matchup is possibly the toughest of the five.
