‘He’s limping pretty heavily’ – McKenna on injury to assist machine Davis

Star left back Leif Davis will need to be evaluated, according to Ipswich Town manager Kieran McKenna, after he sustained an injury late in the thrilling 3-3 draw with Hull City last night.

With less than ten minutes remaining in the game, Davis recorded his 18th assist of the year, leading the Championship by three in that category. However, he went down with what looked to be a non-contact injury.

Harry Clarke took his place on the pitch as he hobbled off, and now all Town supporters will be praying it’s nothing serious.

The Blues must win their final two games, against Huddersfield at home on Saturday lunchtime and Coventry away on Tuesday night, in order to earn back-to-back promotions and a spot in the Premier League for the first time in nearly 25 years.

It would be obvious that losing Davis for those two crucial games would be devastating.

After the game yesterday, McKenna responded to a question about Davis by saying, “He’s limping pretty heavy.” He turned his ankle.

It’s not a new problem for him. We’ll need to evaluate him over the coming days.
