Former Ipswich Town duo Josh Emmanuel and Tomas Holy have suffered relegation from League One with Carlisle United.

Paul Simpson’s side were officially relegated on Saturday following their 2-0 defeat at Northampton Town, having spent just one season in the third tier.

The Cumbrians’ beat Stockport County in a penalty shootout at Wembley to win promotion through the League Two play-offs last May.

However, in their first season at this level since 2013-14, they have won just six of 42 games, dropping into the bottom four in late October. They have remained below the dotted line ever since.

Czech goalkeeper Holy was part of the side who won promotion last season, but he hasn’t played since December after being dropped for some mistakes.

He is likely to leave Brunton Park at the end of his contract, which expires this summer.

Emmanuel joined back in November last year on a deal until the end of the season, having trained with Carlisle for a number of weeks.

The defender has made 14 appearances during that period but hasn’t been able to help them avoid the drop.

The pair were also team-mates during their time at Portman Road.
