Ben Johnson, a defender for West Ham, is a target for Ipswich Town, as reported by the Daily Mirror (via Football League World) this summer.
Prior to the upcoming transfer window, there are rumours that Ipswich Town is interested in signing the full-back.
The 24-year-old Johnson has made 22 appearances this season across all competitions, with 14 of those coming in the Premier League.
The Tractor Boys reportedly want to entice him to Portman Road, according to the Daily Mirror.
Suffolk County’s eye defender
Ipswich Town is presently concentrating on moving up from the Championship as they compete at the top of the table with teams like Leicester City, Leeds United, and Southampton.
If they want to cross the line and enter the top flight, they may view Johnson as someone to strengthen their defensive options for the upcoming season.
Being able to play on either defensive flank would make him a valuable addition to their team. The former England youth international has previous experience playing competitive football on a regular basis.
Johnson’s contract with West Ham expires in late June, and since he hasn’t signed a contract extension, he will currently be a free agent.
Before making his first team debut, the Londoner was a regular for his current club’s youth ranks after rising through the academy.
To date, he has made 109 appearances for the Hammers and netted two goals.
Because of his ambiguous contract situation, it is unclear if he will stay at the London Stadium after this term.
At this point, Johnson is probably considering his options and determining what would be best for his career.
The goal for Suffolk Town in the interim is promotion, and they will return to action this weekend when they travel to East Yorkshire to play Hull City away from home. Seventh in the table are the Tigers.
