Championship transfer news: Ipswich linked with Newcastle defender, Boro lose attacker ahead of Sunderland

Ahead of the Sunderland match, Middlesbrough loses an attacker, and Ipswich Town is linked to a defender from Newcastle United.

Deals are being completed nationwide in advance of the 11 p.m. deadline as deadline day approaches.

Romain Mundle, a winger for Standard Liege, has officially joined Sunderland. According to sporting director Kristjaan Speakman, this was too good of an opportunity to pass up.

After Leo Hjelde’s arrival from Leeds United in January, Mundle became the club’s second January transfer window signing, agreeing to a four-and-a-half year contract.

Ipswich Town ‘won’t be pursuing’ the loan signing of Newcastle United defender Paul Dummett, according to the East Anglian Daily Times.

“We understand that Dummett was presented to the Blues as a potential option, but those brief discussions went no further and he was not a player of interest,” the report states. Despite having played for his childhood club for over 200 games, Dummett has only been able to make one substitute appearance in the Premier League this year. This summer is when his contract is set to expire.”
