Hull City has announced the departure of striker Jim Simms by mutual consent, as revealed on the club’s official website. The decision marks the end of Simms’ tenure with the club as he seeks new opportunities elsewhere.
Simms, aged 20, initially joined the Championship promotion hopefuls in 2022 from Oldham Athletic. Although he trained with Hull’s first team and served as an unused substitute during last season’s mid-season friendlies against Trabzonspor and İstanbul Başakşehir, he did not make a senior appearance for the team.
Despite not featuring for the first team, Simms made an impact for Hull City’s development squad, notably scoring 17 goals during his time at the MKM Stadium. Additionally, he gained experience through loan spells in non-league football at Buxton, Darlington, and Ashton United.
Simms’ contract with Hull was set to expire at the end of the current campaign, but the club and player have agreed to part ways early. It is currently unknown where Simms will continue his football career.
His departure leaves behind a Hull City side striving for promotion to the Premier League, currently sitting 7th in the table after a recent 2-2 draw with Leicester City at home. The team will now enjoy a brief break from action before returning to face Stoke City and Leeds United in upcoming fixtures.
