Rockets expect Alperen Sengun, Jae’Sean Tate Injuries to….

It no longer makes sense for the Houston Rockets to be aggressive with any injury return timetables with just four games remaining in the 2023–24 season and postseason contention eliminated.

It should come as no surprise that reserve forward Jae’Sean Tate and injured center Alperen Sengun won’t likely play again until this fall, in 2024–25. Right ankle sprain is what both are currently dealing with.

Before Tuesday’s game, head coach Ime Udoka stated, “There’s no need to rush them back.” Sengun has gradually increased his physical activity levels, but according to Udoka, his ankle swelling needs to go down before he is cleared to play.

Tate’s injury, according to Udoka, had persisted for some time, and he missed the majority of the 2022–2023 season due to foot and ankle problems.

Regarding Sengun and Tate’s chances of returning in 2023–2024, Udoka said, “I would say unlikely.”

Sengun, who played 63 games, ends up being Houston’s top scorer (21.1 points) and rebounder (9.3) per game while shooting 53.7% overall. In 32.5 minutes, he also averaged 5.0 assists.

Tate was one of the most important reserve defenders for Houston.

The Rockets (38-40) opened their final home game of the 2023–24 season against Orlando (46-32) without Sengun and Tate. If Houston wins three of their final four games, they can at least secure a.500 season; however, a winning season requires winning all four games.

Since 2019–20, when its roster was led by All-Star guards James Harden and Russell Westbrook, Houston has not had a winning season.
