‘I want to play’ – Hibs starlet on potential squad return

Kanayo Megwa recently returned to Hibs after an incredibly productive loan at Championship team Airdrieonians. The 19-year-old Nigerian arrived at Hibs in 2023 and made his Premier League debut in August of the same year before being loaned away once more.

Nick Montgomery now has a conundrum as he weighs his defense choices in advance of a busy schedule in the Premiership return. The defender has now rejoined the Hibees as they enjoy a winter training camp in Dubai.

It is now unclear whether Montgomery would decide to bring Kris Moore, a bright prospect for Leeds United, to the team permanently or to bring Megwa back from his loan period. The Hibs manager brought Kris Moore to Dubai, giving the team even another defensive option.

The 19-year-old Megwa said, “It’s been amazing, we are doing well in the league now, and the guys have been great with me,” in an interview with Hibs FC. Since I’ve been playing every week, I’ve felt more at ease and have seen that my performance has improved with each game.

My confidence has improved as a result of playing every week. Every week, I learn something new, and I truly like it.

The defender was invited back to Hibs for the mid-season training camp in Dubai after winning the Airdrie’s Player of the Month Award twice during his brief loan period.
