Due to suspension, Newell was not present for our 1-0 loss at St Johnstone on the road, and Miller was substituted at the half.
Montgomery acknowledged that Miller’s replacement was the result of a combination of sickness and strategy. He clarified:
Lewis had a rough couple of weeks for a variety of reasons, and he wasn’t feeling well last week. Both he and I are aware of that. He was not feeling well and had a yellow card, so I didn’t want to take the chance of him being sent off, which is what occurred against Dundee.
Lewis should take note of that since he most likely could have avoided receiving the yellow card right before halftime.
“Hopefully, he will be fighting fit for this weekend as he is feeling better this week.”
Joe Newell, who received a one-match suspension for receiving six yellow cards this season, will also be back with the Hibees this weekend.
That was the only league match Newell has missed all season, and Montgomery is looking forward to having the central midfielder back for Saturday.
“Joe’s suspension meant he missed out at the weekend. Joe’s been a really consistent player for us this season so it will be nice to have him back in the squad.”
