Nick Montgomery has expressed his disappointment at the way Hibs conceded against Celtic admitting ‘the first two goals are totally avoidable’.

The Hibees arrived in Glasgow full of confidence after three Scottish Premiership wins on the spin ahead of kick-off but found themselves behind inside four minutes as Cameron Carter Vickers’ header from Luis Palma’s corner came off Oh’s heel and beyond David Marshall. Matt O’Riley added a second from a Palma cross before the interval with the Honduran firing home from the spot and Oh adding his second with just 55 minutes on the clock.

Elie Youan teed up Christian Doidge for a consolation effort as the Easter Road gaffer assessed the match at full-time. He believes the defeat has come down to poor defending from his side while he branded Celtic’s penalty as ‘soft’. He says his side played good stuff in ‘patches’ as focus now turns to the weekend trip to the Tony Macaroni Arena to face Livingston.

Montgomery told BBC Scotland: “The most disappointing thing was the manner of the goals we conceded.

“They never carved us open really, it was our own doing, just poor defending. The first two goals are totally avoidable.

“We had two one-on-ones in the first half. If one of those goes in, it gives us a chance to get back into the game.
