Leishman Can’t Wait To Get Back In Action

Shannon Leishman said progressing in the Scottish Cup is a must for her side as Hibernian prepare to face St Johnstone.

The squad will mark their return from the winter break with a cup tie at Meadowbank on Sunday, and the fullback talked about how the return to training has helped with the squad’s morale going into this game.

“The mood is high. Whenever you have a little break – when everyone comes back, they feel refreshed. We all want to win and to proceed in the cup.”

“We appreciate the support every week. We can’t thank the fans enough for coming down every time we play there. We can’t wait to get playing in front of them again!

When you lay out the things you want to achieve at the start of the season – doing well in both the League Cup and Scottish Cup is up there. I think we definitely will need to proceed in the cup with the number of finals and semi-finals the club have been in over the years.”

As match-days will become more frequent in the New Year, Leishman also praised the togetherness that the squad have had across the last few months, and the pay-off this will have across the rest of the season.

“At this point in the season, we’ll be going into a tough three or four months. We’re going to have double game weeks so it’s all about keeping the fitness levels up. Everyone needs to keep together, and we’re doing that – for the mood to be high.”
