Before Christian Doidge got his head on Jair Tavares’ cross to put Hibs ahead of battling Forfar, he had no idea that the team would need an additional thirty minutes. Similarly, with his contract expiring at the conclusion of this, his fifth season, the Hibees striker is unsure of how much more time he has left in Leith.

Based on this data, the massive striker remains valuable to the Easter Road team. With just 20 minutes left in a tense match that Hibs was fighting to win, Doidge’s aerial threat proved to be the difference at Station Park as he fearlessly rose above a huddle of Loons to get the crucial touch on Tavares’ free kick.

After the whistle, the Welshman was taken aback to discover that the fourth round tie will be resolved on the spot rather than through a replay. His fifth goal of the year made sure that the Scottish Cup dream was still alive for the record-breaking 3,000 travelling supporters as they returned to the city. It’s unclear, though, if this is the 31-year-old’s final opportunity to compete against Hibs. “I had no idea it was going to extra time!” he exclaimed.

“The lads will be quite excited. I’ve played in dozens of these games against clubs that are a couple of divisions below and they give it everything. Throughout my work, I’ve been in their position numerous times, and you want to make an impression.

At halftime, the manager was upset, but we were also upset with ourselves. In the locker room, there were some expletives exchanged, but that’s what happens when you’re not performing well. Guys, get up. We were able to correct our mistakes because we realized what we were doing wrong.

According to Doidge, there have been preliminary discussions on his future. “There’s been some conversation, but nothing substantial,” he stated. I have six months remaining. I guess I’ll simply have to wait and see. I must make an effort to take care of myself. Since my career is brief, I’ll be more than willing to move on if necessary.

“I adore this place, but you have to consider your options and see what transpires. It’s a fantastic city with an amazing fan base, intense pressure, and it makes you get up in the morning. You wish to represent a large club. It’s been an absolutely wonderful five years.

“The training field, the locker room—really everything about the club. I adore this place, but it all comes down to the discussions I have with the gaffer, CEO Ben Kennell, and director Ian Gordon. I’ll have to move on and find somewhere else to play if I’m not welcomed come summertime.

Naturally, I support myself. I am aware of my strengths, which set me apart from the other boys. The manager is also aware of this. However, I want to play football as often as I can.

Just four days after returning from their winter training camp in Dubai, Hibs were in grave danger of being caught off guard by the League Two underdogs. Will Fish made two huge blocks to save the Loons from scoring, Doidge cleared a Stuart Morrison header off the line, and excellent winger Seb Ross of Forfar had his scissor kick touched onto the post by David Marshall.

When the Hibs supporters started to fear the worst, Marc McCallum expertly stopped Joe Newell’s spot kick on the other end. However, things changed in the second half. In the 69th minute, Doidge blocked McCallum’s punch with his head, causing Tavares’ free kick to fly into the empty net and advance Hibs to the round of 16.

It implies that Nick Montgomery’s team will at least be riding high heading into Wednesday’s Easter Road matchup with Rangers. However, a significant improvement in quality will be required to defeat Philippe Clement’s team.

fresh signee Both Myziane Maolida and Kenayo Megwa, who was cup tied with Forfar, will be available. Dylan Vente, who began the game on the bench in Forfar, might also be started again.

It will be good to play against Rangers at home in another important game, Doidge stated. For us, the league campaign is really significant. Now that we are in a particularly difficult run, it is critical that we get points.

“We put in a ton of work in Dubai. We classified it, I believe, as a small pre-season. Since the new manager started, we also performed a lot of tactical work. Naturally, spending a week in Dubai is very different from traveling to Forfar, but we won because we were totally professional and didn’t cut any corners.”
