Following Hibernian’s departure, Bristol Rovers plan to employ a former Bristol City man.

After parting ways with Hibernian in August, McAllister, 45, became available and has been considering his options ever since.

He was interviewed for the management position at Inverness Caledonian Thistle, but reportedly declined the opportunity to become Fleetwood Town’s number two earlier this year, according to The Daily Record. He is currently en route to the Memorial Ground, nevertheless, in anticipation of a fresh challenge in the Football League.

Coach for Bristol Rovers is on the way.

Having played as a defender for Livingston, Queen of the South, Aberdeen, and Hearts, McAllister relocated to England in 2006.

He played with Bristol City for six years, making 210 appearances across all competitions and contributing four goals. During his tenure, the Robins advanced to the Championship play-off final; however, Hull City prevented them from being promoted to the Premier League.

After finishing his playing career with appearances at Yeovil Town, Kerala Blasters, and Exeter City, the Glasgow native entered the coaching field.

He was Bristol City’s Under-21 manager before moving up to be Lee Johnson’s backup. Later, he decided not to join him at Fleetwood and instead followed him to Sunderland and Hibs.

McAllister is now in route to Bristol Rovers, who are 12 points outside of the playoff spots in League One and currently occupy the tenth spot in the standings.

Since Taylor replaced Joey Barton as manager, the Gas have made a respectable start, defeating table-toppers Portsmouth 2-1 on Boxing Day.
