Hibs are set to land an initial £6million investment from Bill Foley once his involvement is rubber-stamped, according to a report.

The Bournemouth owner is looking to take a minority stake in the Easter Road club and is close to doing so after a “positive” meeting between the club and the SFA last week. There are rules on dual-ownership in Scottish football which they are looking to get round while those rules could also be loosened.

As well as the English Premier League side, the American billionaire also has a stake in French side Lorient and is looking to add the Hibees to his group. That has excited supporters while manager Nick Montgomery also spoke about the benefits it will bring him and the club.

And now it has been revealed just how much of a boost they will initially get. According to the Scottish Sun, Foley will pump in £6m to begin with, as soon as he gets the green light for his minority investment.

More good news for fans is that a large chunk of that will be on player recruitment while they will also look to upgrade their East Mains training facility with the addition of a full-size indoor pitch.

Foley has spoken about the potential of Hibs and the ambition to make them the third force in Scottish football and sees them as a feeder club for Bournemouth, with both benefiting from the exchange of players and resources.

As part of their talks with the SFA, Hibs have guaranteed that the US businessman won’t have any actual control or say in running the club.

He said recently: “This is going to be a pathway for a lot of young people to move up, get into the A-League and then perhaps move on, go to Scotland.

“If they can go to the top of the pyramid, then they go to Bournemouth in the Premier League.

“We have teams that we’re working with right now in terms of making investments in Scotland and in the Netherlands. So it’s a multi-club strategy.”
