It follows McManus’ assertion that there was no difference in quality between the two major rivals.
Hearts legend Stephane Adam called former Hibs player Tam McManus “a clown” and advised him to “mind the gap.”
After the dramatic 1-1 draw at Tynecastle last week, McManus stirred controversy by asserting that there was no rivalry between the two capital teams. The Jambos lead their fierce rivals by an incredible 21 points, but McManus said Steven Naismith’s team is all than capable of defeating the Hibees, claiming that the sixth-place Easter Road team’s main issue is their inconsistent play.
Adam, the 1998 Scottish Cup goal hero, has now retaliated after Hearts’ third-force performance in yesterday’s 2-0 victory over Celtic at Tynecastle demonstrated their abilities. After four years at Gorgie, the Frenchman wrote on X, saying: “And the moron Mc Manus swears there is nothing between HMFC and Hibs!! Clown, mind the gap!”
On social media, Adam’s late joke was well received by the maroon supporters, who commented, “You tell him big boy!” One person joked, “Game in hand, don’t forget.”
McManus stated last week in his weekly column: “The three derbies demonstrate that there isn’t much separating the sides on a head-to-head basis. Simply put, hearts have been more reliable. While Hibs have never had a winning streak, they have often defeated teams like Motherwell, Ross County, and Dundee.
You can’t disagree with Hearts supporters’ right to point to the league table. However, the previous few performances have inspired me. There are indications that Hibs can contend with the Jambos and the others for third place if they receive greater support in the summer, especially in light of the Bill Foley investment.”
