Despite Hibs’ victory, Sunderland loanee Eliezer Mayenda is benched for the third straight game.

How the loan players from Sunderland are doing globally, with varying degrees of success, in the most recent fixtures.

This weekend marked the third straight Hibernian game when Sunderland loanee Nectar Triantis was named on the bench.

Since joining Hibernian on loan in January, the Australian defender has made six appearances in the Scottish Premiership. A week ago, he was benched for the match against Dundee, but he was added late in the game, which Hibs won.

Manager Nick Montgomery again started Triantis on the bench for Hibs’ 2-1 victory over Ross County on Saturday, and the Australian made another cameo in the second half of the team’s midweek draw against Hearts. Off the substitutes bench, Triantis made his sixth appearance of the season.

It’s interesting to note that even though Hibs defeated Ross County, Sunderland loanee striker Eliezer Mayenda didn’t make a brief cameo appearance for Montgomery’s team. In fact, the striker has only made one appearance off the bench for the Scottish team since joining in January.

During the summer’s hiring frenzy, Mayenda and Triantis both signed with the Black Cats; however, they were loaned out in January after failing to secure a starting position.

In another incident, Alex Bass, a custodian on loan from Sunderland, played the entire match as AFC Wimbledon defeated rivals MK Dons 1-0 in the last seconds of play, setting up wild celebrations after Ronan Curtis’ final goal.

Joe Anderson was not used as a substitute in Shrewsbury Town’s League One loss to Blackpool, while Jay Matete was not used in Oxford United’s 2-1 loss to Portsmouth at Fratton Park.Darlington’s Matty Young got the start in goal as The Quakers won three straight games.Since joining Aris on loan in January, Jewison Bennette has appeared in two games for the Greek team, which returns to action this Sunday.
