Rangers sent Hearts warning as Hibs boss agrees to Sky Sports move

For their last game before Christmas, Hearts and the Hibs will play again on Saturday. Hearts host St. Mirren to Tynescastle, while Hibs go to play Ross County.

The two Edinburgh teams are now separated by just two points, but they are also separated by three positions, with Hearts, in third place, having played one fewer game than the other team. We’ve compiled the most recent information about the two teams as they attempt to enter Christmas on a winning note.

Shankland alert

As the Gers attempt to lure Lawrence Shankland away, former Rangers player Lee McCulloch has issued a warning, saying that Hearts are unlikely to grant them any favors. “I think the situation is, Hearts are pretty cash rich there’s a lot of money in the boardroom, so they won’t sell him short,” he said on the PLZ Soccer Show.

It will all ultimately come down to Lawrence Shankland, though. And for that reason, I believe they could find themselves in a challenging scenario if, say, another team approaches them with an offer and he declines.

Montgomery to don a microphone

Hibs manager Nick Montgomery will don a microphone for an NFL-style mic’d up feature during the forthcoming derby against Hearts, according to a statement from Sky Sports.

“We’re really pleased to have been able to work with both clubs and Sky Sports to showcase their latest broadcasting innovations, helping put supporters right at the heart of the action in the Edinburgh derby,” said Neil Doncaster, Group Chief Executive of the SPFL, in a statement released by Sky Sports. It looks like a great game, and we can’t wait to see how technology helps spectators feel even more involved in the action. Hearts have also stated that Steven Naismith will not be donning a microphone during the game, joining Montgomery in that regard.
