Before Hearts’ away match against Partick Thistle on Sunday, Eva Olid has emphasized that the team is not thinking about the league standings.
The Jam Tarts will play Partick this weekend at Petershill Park. The hosts, who are now four points ahead of Hearts in the SWPL1, have had an incredible season thus far. Olid, though, is only concerned with winning the tie, disregarding the significance of the matchup at the top of the table.
She told the Edinburgh Evening News, “I am focused on the three points because there is still a long way to go in the league.” Partick still has to play the top five in the second round. We don’t consider the general table when focusing on the three points.
When the two teams last faced off, Hearts emerged victorious in their biggest victory of the year. Olid’s team won 6-1 thanks to goals from Olufolasade Adamolekun, Kathleen McGovern, and Carly Girasoli in addition to a hat-trick from Georgia Timms. Considering that the opposition had the fourth-best defense in the division, it was a very impressive outcome. Olid, though, is leery of Partick’s domestic threat.
She went on, “It will be a really competitive game.” “I am aware that we defeated them handily the last time we played at home, but they are extremely competitive when we play away from home, making it very challenging to defeat them.”
It is crucial that we stay concentrated and perform to the best of our abilities both on offense and defense. On Sunday, we can’t only be strong with the ball—we need to be strong with everything. They will be assaulting us, so we need to be strong in transitions.
