Hearts and seasoned goalie Craig Gordon have begun contract negotiations.

Gordon, a Scotland international, had a terrifying double leg break on Christmas Eve of last year, which kept him out of action for nearly a year. On New Year’s Eve, the club captain, who turns 41, is returning to the team and is vying with Zander Clark for the starting position in goal.

ageless Gordon is now pushing for a spot in Steve Clarke’s Euro 2024 squad for the competition in Germany next summer and isn’t thinking about retiring. Additionally, Jambos manager Steven Naismith disclosed that preliminary talks had been held regarding the ex-Celtic No. 1’s contract renewal.

The Edinburgh Evening News was informed by Naismith that “we have spoken to him about going forward.” Craigy is expected to stay at the club for the duration of his career, no matter how long that may be. That is unquestionably the sign.

“We won’t put any pressure on that kind of thing. We’ll just wait for Craigy to hopefully resume playing regularly, logging the necessary minutes, and contributing to the team.

“Everyone in the club is aware of Craig’s worth. Given where he is in his career, I don’t see his future going any other place. I believe that one will resolve itself. I have no doubt that it won’t be a problem.
