Based on his appearances this season, a striker from Northern Ireland earns a further year.
Hearts have extended Liam Boyce’s contract through the summer of 2025, and supporters of the Jambos are encouraged to “watch this space” for more exciting signing announcements.
After a protracted injury layoff, the 32-year-old Northern Ireland striker has rejoined the first squad, and his performances this season have activated a one-year contract option.
Boyce has 36 goals in 107 appearances since making his Hearts debut in January 2020.
On the club’s official website, Joe Savage, the sporting director, said that Boycie’s contract extension is great news and a testament to his perseverance and determination.
“We always planned to wait to reintroduce him to the first team until he had had the time to heal and feel well.
“We didn’t want to put any pressure on Boycie; we just wanted to give him the best chance to reach his full potential.
I think it’s evident to all that he’s succeeded. His decision to extend his contract is wonderful news for all parties concerned, since he is a prominent player both on and off the field.
“The first team’s winning streak and subsequent rise to third place in the league, along with Steven Naismith’s and Lawrence Shankland’s awards for manager and player of the month for November, respectively, and Boycie’s contract extension, have created a positive atmosphere within the club. We hope to resolve a few more issues, so stay tuned.”
“Boycie’s experience inside the dressing room is invaluable, and we’re all delighted that he’s going to be here for an additional year,” Naismith stated.
“I am aware of the challenges associated with recovering from a chronic injury, but he has handled everything with grace and his play on the field speaks for itself—he is a talented player.
“There is intense competition for spots, and having elite athletes like Boycie contend for a spot only serves to raise the bar even further.”
