Max Verstappen shouted out at Red Bull mechanic

Verstappen’s Red Bull vehicle caught fire, forcing him to withdraw from the Australian Grand Prix.

Max Verstappen was frustrated with his DNF in Melbourne

Following the abrupt end to Max Verstappen’s Australian Grand Prix, Christian Horner has voiced his thoughts following the heated exchange between the driver and a Red Bull mechanic.

Verstappen was leading the race in Australia and was headed for his tenth consecutive F1 victory. However, Carlos Sainz easily passed him when his car began to smoke shortly after the race started. He had to stop and exit the race after his brake caught fire. Verstappen appeared to be yelling at a mechanic as he got out of his car and removed his helmet, and he appeared to say, “Stupid.”

Even though Verstappen was upset, the team’s manager, Horner, claimed after the race that Verstappen was “very gracious” to every member of the team. He clarified: “Obviously, a driver is going to be frustrated when he gets out of a car from a retirement.” He’s been really kind to the team and all of the mechanics, in my opinion. Everyone is harmed in the same way by it. It is important to draw lessons from it. It’s amazing that we haven’t had any mechanical DNFs in the last two years.

After the formation lap, Verstappen revealed that one of his wheels’ brakes jammed, giving him the impression that he was “driving with the handbrake on”. He said, “That was related to us doing a pit stop while the car was on fire,” recalling a conversation he had with his mechanic about the incident. ‘Why are we doing a pit stop?’ I thought.
