Former Detroit Lions international player signs with Seahawks

Beginning in 2023, the Lions will not be bringing back any international pathways players.

Detroit Lions v Carolina Panthers

On Tuesday, the Seattle Seahawks revealed that offensive tackle Max Pircher had signed a contract.

That name should sound familiar if it does. As a part of the NFL international pathways program, Pircher played with the Lions the whole 2023 season. Italian-born player Pircher filled an offensive line depth slot on the team’s roster. Pircher spent the whole regular season as a member of the team’s practice squad.

After playing with the Los Angeles Rams for three seasons and the Lions for one, Pircher is currently with his third NFL franchise. But he hasn’t yet appeared in a game during the regular season.

Regarding the depth of their offensive line, the Lions might still need to make some improvements. They don’t have many seasoned reserve players, while having a solid starting five in Taylor Decker, Graham Glasgow, Frank Ragnow, Kevin Zeitler, and Penei Sewell. They signed Dan Skipper and Connor Galvin at tackle. Kayode Awosika, Colby Sorsdal, Michael Niese, Netane Muti, and Matt Farniok make up their depth on the inside.
