Transfer News: Derby County Set Transfer Fee as Sheffield United Boss Hints at ‘Outstanding’ Defender.

Sheffield United's Jayden Bogle explains why he is getting pumped-up for Middlesbrough

As things currently stand, Jayden Bogle, an impressive talent at Sheffield United, finds himself among the 13 players whose contracts are set to expire this summer. Manager Chris Wilder has strongly hinted at Bogle’s continued presence in the team, lauding him as “outstanding.” Since Wilder’s return in December, Bogle, a former Derby County defender, has showcased remarkable consistency, despite the competitive environment, particularly with George Baldock. At just 23 years old, Bogle has surpassed the 100-appearance milestone for the Blades, a notable achievement, especially considering his position against Baldock in recent seasons. Furthermore, among United’s defenders in the Premier League, Bogle holds the record for the most goals scored, with five to his credit.

It’s understood that Bogle possesses an option in his contract that allows United to extend it by an additional year, although there’s a possibility the club may seek to secure his services for a longer period. Bogle joined United alongside Max Lowe in a joint transfer from Pride Park in September 2020, a deal initially rumored to be valued at up to £15m in the national media. However, the actual fee for both players amounted to nearly a quarter of that figure. When asked about Bogle’s future with United, Wilder expressed optimism, highlighting the bargain deal and praising Bogle’s exceptional contributions on the field. He emphasized Bogle’s positive attitude and stellar performances throughout the season, noting his unwavering dedication to his role.

With reports emerging from Greece suggesting Baldock’s potential move to Panathinaikos, resolving Bogle’s contract situation may gain added importance for United this summer. Despite this, the club has already taken steps to bolster their right-back options, securing promising talent Sam Curtis in January and extending the contract of young prospect Femi Seriki until 2027 before loaning him to Rotherham United.
