Stoke City poised to sign target pursued by Derby County and Leeds United

Stoke City have moved ‘a step closer’ to landing Derby County and Leeds United target Viktor Johansson, according to journalist Alan Biggs.

Johansson was a shining light for Rotherham United this season despite the Millers being relegated from the Championship.

Rotherham boss Steve Evans has all but given up hope of keeping the goalkeeper due to a release clause in his contract and the fierce interest.

Newly promoted Derby have shown interest in Johansson, and his former club Leeds United is also keen on him.

However, Stoke City has emerged as a strong contender and is now reportedly ‘a step closer’ to signing the goalkeeper.

Following a disappointing season, the Potters are eager to strengthen their squad this summer to prevent a recurrence.

Johansson, a Sweden international, featured in both of Rotherham’s Championship matches against Stoke this season.

It’s believed that a clause in Johansson’s contract allows him to leave Rotherham for just £900,000.
