Paul Warne reveals Derby County scouting mission and player meetings in transfer process

Paul Warne isn’t satisfied with merely securing promotion for Derby County this summer. He’s already laying out strategies to strengthen his squad through recruitment before they re-enter the Championship in August.

Derby secured promotion on the last day of the League One season, maintaining an average of two points per game across 46 matches and finishing with a comfortable win against Carlisle United. Now, the primary focus is on shaping the squad for the upcoming period.

Warne, facing several decisions about the futures of current players, has initiated talks with potential recruits for Derby. Additionally, he has discussed plans for scouting trips to the Netherlands and Denmark to personally assess identified targets.

“Planning encompasses a lot,” Warne stated. “We’ve been holding recruitment meetings since January, aiming at players suited for the Championship level. We’ve already made progress with some targets and will keep advancing. Scouting trips abroad are scheduled to ensure a strong start in the Championship.”
