Former Sunderland, Leeds, and Sheffield Wednesday striker released by League One club only 56 days after signing.

Charlton has parted ways with former Sunderland striker Connor Wickham, just 56 days after his arrival at the club. The 31-year-old joined Charlton on March 8 on a short-term contract until the end of the season. Despite his brief stint, Wickham only managed to make four appearances for Charlton, scoring once in a match against Cambridge which ended in a 1-1 draw.

Wickham had been without a club since leaving Cardiff City at the conclusion of the previous season. During his career, he notably played 91 games for Sunderland after joining from Ipswich in 2011 and also had spells with Crystal Palace, Leeds, and Sheffield Wednesday while on loan from Sunderland.

In addition to Wickham’s departure, Charlton has confirmed that former Sunderland midfielder George Dobson will also be leaving the club. Despite multiple contract offers from Charlton, Dobson has opted to sign a pre-contract agreement with Hungarian club Fehervar.
