Former Derby County defender placed on transfer list as club invites bids…

Former Derby County defender Scott Malone has been placed on the transfer list by Gillingham.

Following the departure of Stephen Clemence, Gillingham is now under the management of former Cambridge boss Mark Bonner, who is quickly restructuring the squad for the next season. Malone is one of four players made available for transfer, alongside George Lapslie, Ashley Nadesan, and Oli Hawkins, as the Gills aim for a promotion push next season.

Malone, who made 55 appearances for Derby, left the club for Millwall in May 2021 after joining from Huddersfield Town, where he helped the team remain in the Premier League. He played 48 games and scored four goals last season, but Gillingham finished in a disappointing mid-table position.

In addition to transfer-listing four players, Gillingham has announced the departure of eight players whose contracts were not renewed, including forward Macauley Bonne, who has played for Charlton Athletic and Queens Park Rangers in the Championship.
