Every Championship player released so far as Derby old boy and Stoke forward among free agents

Andreas Weimann, a former Derby County forward, is one of the notable Championship players set to become a free agent this summer. Currently on loan at West Bromwich Albion, he will play in today’s play-off semi-final first leg against Southampton. Weimann, 32, departed Bristol City in January due to a lack of contract extension prospects and is now seeking a new club.

During his time at Bristol City, Weimann contributed two goals and two assists in four starts and eight substitute appearances at West Brom, showcasing versatility across midfield and attack. He had previously spent three years at Pride Park and also played for Wolves on loan, becoming a fan favorite at Bristol City during his five-and-a-half-season tenure.

Meanwhile, Bristol City is also parting ways with midfielder Matty James, with discussions ongoing for Joe Williams and Romani Rowe. Stoke City is addressing contract issues with players like Tyrese Campbell, while Coventry City has released Liam Kelly and is negotiating an extension with Callum O’Hare. Rotherham United and Stoke City also have players leaving or in contract discussions as the offseason approaches.
