EFL confirm Derby County decision and it causes furious reaction at Lincoln City

Derby County head coach Paul Warne has won manager of the month in League One for March – but it has not gone down well at Lincoln City.

Warne picked up the gong for an impressive month in which he claimed five wins out of six games – including a 1-0 win over promotion rivals Bolton at Pride Park.

But Lincoln boss Michael Skubala equally had an impressive March, picking up 13 points but leading the Imps to thumping 5-1, 6-0 and 5-0 victories. It was Warne who got the nod and the Rams head coach said: “The team produced some excellent results and performances during March.

“We found different ways to win games at a key time in the season and the entire playing squad and backroom staff deserve great credit for it.”

The EFL added: “Warne is a master at imbuing his sides with a determination to win games when it matters most. Derby won five out of six, including a crucial 1-0 home victory over automatic promotion rivals Bolton which lifted them clear in second place.”

But Lincoln fans reacting on social media were fuming as they believed the award should be heading to Sincil Bank.

Adam Fairweather said: “What more could Skubala do? Shambles.”
