DEVASTATING NEWS: Derby County striker denied Gateshead promotion as statement confirms huge EFL blow

Derby County’s forward Dajaune Brown has been deprived of the opportunity to potentially achieve promotion with Gateshead. This occurred because Gateshead failed to meet the Football League’s requirements for entry.

Gateshead recently secured their spot in the National League playoffs, hoping to replicate their success after winning the FA Trophy under Rob Elliott’s management.

However, the National League announced today that Gateshead did not fulfill the crucial condition of having a 10-year stadium security tenure, a prerequisite for joining the EFL. Despite Gateshead’s appeal and support from the National League, the request to Gateshead Council for this tenure was declined, leading to the EFL’s decision to disqualify Gateshead from the playoffs.

The National League expressed disappointment over this outcome and highlighted the efforts made to support Gateshead’s application. Unfortunately, Gateshead’s options from the council did not meet the EFL’s standards, leading to the denial of their appeal through an arbitration panel.

As a result, Gateshead will not participate in the playoffs, and Altrincham will advance to the semi-finals by default. This news comes as a significant blow to Brown, who has been instrumental in Gateshead’s successful season, contributing nine goals since his loan from Derby in January. Despite this setback, Brown still has an upcoming Wembley appearance in the FA Trophy next month with Gateshead.
