Latest Derby County news from DerbyshireLive brings you the latest from the treatment table ahead of the final-day showdown
Derby County can rubberstamp their promotion back to the Championship this weekend when they host Carlisle United at Pride Park.
In front of what is expected to be a raucous atmosphere, Paul Warne’s side stand on the brink of a place in the history books with second place up for grabs and just one more point needed to secure a return to promotion.
Ahead of the game against Carlisle, who are already relegated, here is the latest from the treatment table as the Rams prepare for their date with destiny.
Joe Ward
The winger’s season is over after he underwent surgery on a knee injury. Warne said he faces two months on the sidelines and will spend a large part of his summer in rehab.
Dwight Gayle
The striker limped out of the win over Bolton in the first half and was subsequently sent for a scan. Warne confirmed in his press conference on Thursday however that the striker was due to return to training and could be involved on Saturday.
Craig Forsyth
The defender was feared to be out for the rest of the season after another calf problem, but the long-serving Scot is improving. Will be eager to be involved at the weekend.
Ryan Nyambe
The Namibia international has been ruled out for the season after injuring his quad in the game against Charlton. He has undergone surgery and unfortunately, that is his campaign over with.
Tyreece John-Jules
The on-loan Arsenal forward, who injured his hamstring against Reading back in January, was scheduled to return to Derby for training this week after being given the green light by the Gunners after there were no setbacks with his rehab. Warne confirmed yesterday that the striker has returned with a bang and was “the best kid” in training on Tuesday. Likely to be on the bench.
Jake Rooney
The centre-back sustained anterior cruciate ligament damage in the defeat to Bolton in September, but is making surprisingly good progress. Is set to undergo another scan on his knee and once all clear, could be back involved with some of the first-team training.
