Derby County looking to land Leeds United target

Derby County has entered the race to sign Viktor Johansson from Rotherham United, with Leeds United also reportedly interested. The Rams are back in the Championship after two years in League One and are looking to strengthen their squad for the upcoming challenging season.

In the last six years, Paul Warne, the manager, has achieved promotion four times from the third division – three times with Rotherham United and now once with Derby County. His track record makes him one of the top promotion specialists in the English Football League.

Despite this success, keeping Derby County in the Championship will be a tough task, but Warne’s experience in the league will guide his decisions on adding players to the squad.

Viktor Johansson, who earned the Young Player of the Season award at Rotherham, is linked with a move to Derby County, potentially reuniting with Warne. The goalkeeper’s future has been under scrutiny since Rotherham’s relegation to League One, attracting interest from clubs like Stoke City and Sheffield United as well.

Reports also suggest that Leeds United is considering a bid for Johansson during the summer transfer window, adding to the competition for his signature.
