Blackpool rocked by major striker blow ahead of Derby County clash

Blackpool manager Neil Critchley has provided an update on Jordan Rhodes, confirming that the forward is back at Huddersfield Town for rehabilitation after sustaining knee ligament damage. Rhodes, who was a transfer target for Derby County last summer, suffered the injury during a tackle in a recent match and had to be substituted.

Rhodes’ return to Huddersfield for treatment raises uncertainty about his availability for the remainder of the season and whether he will be fit to contribute to Blackpool’s push for a top-six finish. Critchley mentioned that Rhodes will definitely miss the upcoming game at Pride Park against Derby County as he continues his recovery process.

On a positive note, Critchley mentioned that Andy Lyons underwent successful surgery, albeit facing a lengthy rehabilitation period. There are also positive updates regarding the progress of other injured players like Albie Morgan, James Husband, and Ryan Finnigan, who are all getting closer to returning to action.

However, the manager highlighted that while there has been progress, it remains doubtful whether these players will be available for the upcoming weekend fixtures. Regarding Rhodes’ injury, Critchley described it as ligament damage in the knee resulting from a blocked tackle, emphasizing the unfortunate nature of the incident.

Despite the setback, Critchley expressed hope that Rhodes will return to action for Blackpool this season, stating that constant communication with Huddersfield Town is ongoing, and they have not ruled out the possibility of Rhodes featuring for Blackpool again before the end of the campaign.
