Nyambe sustained a season-ending injury in February during a match against Charlton, where he damaged his quad while making a clearance. The former Wigan player required surgery and subsequently missed the remainder of the season. Despite his absence, Paul Warne’s Derby County secured promotion. Namibia is scheduled to play Liberia and Tunisia next month and will also compete in the Council of Southern Africa Football Associations Cup. Namibia’s manager, Collin Benjamin, who recently reduced his squad from 52 to 35 players, confirmed Nyambe’s unavailability. “Nyambe is undergoing rehab, but we have young guys and Ivan Kamberipa, who did a good job at Afcon against Mali, who can step in,” Benjamin said. “This is a good opportunity for other guys and for us to create capacity as a country. This is an opportunity that other players must use and say, coach, I am here.” Nyambe had an impressive season at Derby after joining on a free transfer last September. He solidified his position in the team’s defense, making 22 appearances before signing a new deal in December. GET MORE NEWS HERE Related Derby County
