The Dallas Mavericks are now third in the Western Conference with a 13-8 record after 21 games.

Their summer decisions had a significant role in their improved performance this season over last. They strengthened their role-player core, which was lacking, by concentrating on adding guys who would enhance Kyrie Irving and Luka Doncic.

With the No. 12 overall pick, Dallas struck gold in the draft when they selected Dereck Lively II. In free agency, they made numerous excellent choices, including trading for Grant Williams and signing Derrick Jones Jr.

This week, six Dallas Mavericks players could be dealt.

Dallas’ quick start has been largely attributed to the three players who have been reliable starters for the team.

Dallas needs one or two more players, despite their excellent start. Dallas may start trading players they signed this summer on December 15. Teams are required by rule to hold off on moving players for three months following their signing; the earliest opportunity to deal newly signed offseason players comes on December 15.

The following six Dallas Mavericks players are available for trade as of December 15.

6. Markieff Morris

Following his February trade with the Dallas Mavericks for Kyrie Irving, Markieff Morris re-signed with the Mavs this summer for a one-year deal. Morris is averaging 2.6 points, 1.2 rebounds, 0.4 assists, and 29.4 percent from the field in four games this season.

Morris signed the contract knowing that he wouldn’t play much, thus Dallas wouldn’t suffer much if he left.

Morris has participated in the last two games, primarily due to Dallas’ ailments and their dominance against the Jazz the previous week, but once the team is fully recovered, I don’t see him playing much more.

Although he adds a seasoned perspective to the locker room and gets along well with the players, I doubt Dallas would object if a team wanted to trade for him starting this week.
