Mavs injury updates: Latest on Hardaway, Prosper & Kleber

Tim Hardaway Jr. and Olivier-Maxence Prosper were added to the Mavs’ injury report with Maxi Kleber prior to their Friday night game against the Grizzlies.

Dallas — The Dallas Mavericks announced additional injury updates involving Tim Hardaway Jr., Olivier-Maxence Prosper, and Maxi Kleber prior to their game against the Memphis Grizzlies on Friday.

Hardaway (back spasms) and Prosper (ankle sprain), both of which are new injuries on the report, will be listed by the Mavs as questionable to play. Keber’s toe dislocation has kept him out of action since he last played on November 9.

Following practice on Thursday, Mavs coach Jason Kidd stated, “Timmy [will be] questionable with back spasms.” O-Max has a sprained right ankle. Maxi is not coming.”

Kidd provided an update on Kleber’s recuperation, stating that he has been practicing on the court and is not wearing his boot. But he’s been working out on the court similarly to how he has been working lately.

“On the court, he’s doing some stuff,” Kidd remarked. “It’s still the same old thing he has been doing. Despite not wearing his boot, he is still working.”

Kleber was spotted working on some light work on the court during the media-accessible section of practice on Thursday. It’s unclear how soon he’ll be able to play again, but he’s making progress. As of Nov. 11, he was originally scheduled for a reevaluation in “a couple of weeks,” but no update has been given.

The Mavs will be without a player who has averaged 16.8 points, 3.4 rebounds, and 1.6 assists in 17 games this season if Hardaway is out for Friday’s game against the Grizzlies. On 8.9 3-point tries a game, he is converting at a 38.4 percent clip from beyond the arc. In the 11 games the sharpshooter missed the previous season, Dallas finished 1–10.

Prosper did not play against the Rockets, but when Kleber has been out, he has filled in at times in recent games. His most recent game was a six-minute stint on Saturday against the Los Angeles Clippers.

After missing one game because of a lower back injury, Dereck Lively II returned to the starting lineup for the Mavs. He played against the Houston Rockets on Tuesday and finished with eight points, five rebounds, and two blocks in 28 minutes. It will be interesting to see how he develops physically after he settles back into a routine.
