Los Angeles Lakers frontcourt superstars LeBron James and Anthony Davis, plus newly-extended reserve power forward Jarred Vanderbilt, may all sit out tonight’s matchup against the 3-19 San Antonio Spurs, per Jovan Buha of The Athletic. This evening marks the second night of a back-to-back tandem of Texas clashes. The Mavs were the tougher foe, so presumably LA’s medical staff is weighing just how necessary all three frontcourt threats are tonight, in facing a San Antonio team on a 17-game losing streak.
Vanderbilt was a late scratch in last night’s 127-125 loss to the Dallas Mavericks due to a low back spasm. He’s appeared in just three regular season games for LA this year (four if you count the In-Season Tournament finale on Saturday). James is dealing with a left calf contusion, while Davis appeared to aggravate his lingering left adductor/hip spasm last night in Dallas.
Bench point guard Gabe Vincent is the only rotation Laker who’s officially out as of this writing. He’s missed all but four games since joining LA with a left knee effusion. Rookies Jalen Hood-Schifino (low back spasm) and Maxwell Lewis (G League assignment) are also on the shelf for Los Angeles.
