Hull, Coventry and Norwich City Trio as Regarding Portsmouth’s New League Rivals.

Pompey faces a crucial summer as they aim to strengthen their squad following their League One title victory. They were promoted from the third tier along with Derby County and Oxford United.

Manager John Mousinho has the opportunity to recruit new players once the transfer window opens. In the meantime, here’s a roundup of the latest news and rumors from around the Championship…

Hull City Transfer Chief to Depart

According to HullLive, Hull City’s Head of Recruitment, Lee Darnborough, is set to leave for Stoke City. The 46-year-old, who has previously worked at Norwich City, is moving on to a new challenge. Darnborough facilitated the loan move of Pompey’s Gavin Whyte to Hull from Cardiff City in 2021 and also signed former Fratton Park players Di’Shon Bernard and Andy Cannon for the Tigers.

Coventry City Midfielder in Demand

Coventry City midfielder Ben Sheaf is reportedly a target for Luton Town, as reported by Alan Nixon on his Patreon page. Following their relegation from the Premier League under Rob Edwards, Luton is keen to acquire the 26-year-old. Sheaf, a former England youth international, has been with Coventry since 2020 after transferring from Arsenal. He played a key role in helping Mark Robins’ side reach the play-off final last year and the FA Cup semi-final this past season.

Norwich City Striker Wanted by Celtic

Celtic manager Brendan Rodgers has expressed his desire to sign Norwich loanee Adam Idah on a permanent basis. The striker joined Celtic on loan in January and played a significant role in their Scottish Premiership title win over Rangers. Idah also scored the winning goal in the Scottish Cup final against Rangers. Rodgers, quoted by The Scotsman, said, “The board knows how I feel about Adam, which was why we brought him in. He’s been a catalyst for us, especially in the last few months. I knew what I was getting because I’d seen him in the Premier League at 18. He has all the attributes—fast, dynamic, strong—and I felt with better positioning he’d score goals.

“What he’s done since arriving is show that he’s a goalscorer. He scores different types of goals, has great movement in the box, and handles pressure moments well. Today, he was like a real number nine, sniffing around the box. He’s been immense for us and is someone I’d like to keep.”
