Every Championship player released so far as Stoke, Coventry and others submit retained lists

Coventry City fan Liam Kelly will become a free agent this summer as retained lists start to drop around the Championship.

Captain Kelly is leaving Coventry after playing 180 games for the club since 2017, helping win promotion from League Two and League One, reach the Championship play-off final and this season’s FA Cup semi-final. Goalkeeper Simon Moore is also saying his farewells while boss Mark Robins is in talks to extend the stay of star man Callum O’Hare.

Robins said: “Liam Kelly will be rightly praised as a club legend. He has been an impeccable professional on and off the field, and an important part of Coventry City’s rise through the divisions in recent years.”

Stoke City old boy Sam Clucas is moving Rotherham after a season. The 33-year-old midfielder has played 32 times, scoring once and setting up two, in what proved a tough year for the Millers. Steve Evans joined in the final week of the season as their third manager and they had long been relegated to League One by that time.

Ten other players are to be freed too, including defenders Sean Morrison, Lee Peltier, Grant Hall and Tyler Blackett and midfielders Cafu and Shane Ferguson.

Stoke have addressed the contract situation of players around the first team group. Tyrese Campbell is leaving, Jordan Thompson has had a 12-month option taken and talks are continuing with Enda Stevens. Frank Fielding is staying while Ciaran Clark and Wesley leave.
