Leeds United have dominated possession in their last two fixtures but have just one Championship point to show for it
Daniel Farke agreed that Sunderland and Coventry City have outlined the blueprint to frustrate Leeds United. The Whites have earned just one point from two fixtures despite managing 62 per cent and 65 per cent possession in both contests.
In each game, Leeds struggled to break down a resilient backline and wasted several opportunities to snatch a result. United managed 20 shots to the Sky Blues’ seven on Saturday but were still forced to share the spoils at Elland Road.
Speaking post-match, Farke admitted that Sunderland and Coventry have shown other sides the way to thwart the Whites but still felt as though his side deserved the win. He said: “Yes (whether Sunderland and Coventry have outlined the blueprint to frustrate Leeds). But we also faced this approach in the last seven home games and we won them all. So it means it is perhaps encouraging that they try to press higher.
“I expect (this) because we are so capable. I like that we are dominant and we can push the opponent back, to play more or less like a power play in their half. The only difference today in comparison to other home games was that (in previous games) we showed a bit more effectiveness when it counted or returned with a clean sheet.
“Sadly, both were not there. We didn’t allow them to have chances – just one cross. It’s nearly enough to return with a clean sheet and, with the amount of chances we created, should have been enough to win this game and score more than just one goal.”
