CoventryLive’s Kasey Palmer and Fabio Tavares injury report is updated by Mark Robins regarding the injured duo.
If playmaker Kasey Palmer of Coventry City can make it through an Under-21s match today (Friday, December 1), he should be available to play against Birmingham the following week. Due to an abductor tear, the 27-year-old has missed the last 11 games. This afternoon, at the Alan Higgs Centre, he will participate in his first game back as the Sky Blues development squad takes on Peterborough United (1pm).
Fabio Tavares, who has been sidelined for nearly a year due to an Achilles rupture, will also be in the squad, though it will likely take him a few more weeks to be cleared to play for the first team.
Manager Mark Robins stated that he has an otherwise healthy squad to travel to play Ipswich Town this weekend. “Kasey is playing in the Under-21s with Fabio Tavares today and hopefully they can come through that and be a little bit closer for next week’s training into the Birmingham game,” Robins added.
When asked if increasing the forwards’ playing time is the goal, he responded, “It’s not just a case of that.” They have been apart for an extended period of time—for Fabio, it has been almost a year. When you consider that Kasey hasn’t been seen in over two months, the answer is definitely yes. For Fabio, it’s a little different since he needs to regain his timing. He needs to regain his rhythm and his self-assurance so that he can play. However, he always appears more and more improved when he is training.
In a similar vein, Kasey’s training simply gives him the assurance that his body is functioning normally. He is still striving to improve his match readiness, match sharpness, and match fitness.
If supporters would want to attend today’s game at the Higgs, parking and entry are free. Kickoff is at 1pm.
Next Friday night at the CBS Arena, the Sky Blues first team will play Birmingham City in a televised encounter that starts at 8 p.m.
