Browns ‘most dangerous’ offseason addition is a reminder of how good the offense can be

The Cleveland Browns’ offense is expected to be formidable in 2024, with high hopes pinned on their strong wide receiver lineup. This group features Amari Cooper, Elijah Moore, and new addition Jerry Jeudy in starting roles.

Jeudy joined the team in the offseason and has been deemed the Browns’ most significant acquisition, according to Ryan Fowler of Bleacher Report.

“With Jeudy and Amari Cooper, the Browns have a legitimate 1-2 pairing on the perimeter. While Cooper has consistently faced double-teams and bracket coverages throughout his Cleveland tenure, the addition of Jeudy on the opposite side will force teams to account for both sides of the formation,” said Fowler.

Cleveland traded a fifth and sixth-round pick in the recent draft to acquire Jeudy from Denver in March. Jeudy subsequently signed a three-year extension worth $52.2 million, securing his place with the Browns until 2027.

The aim is that with Jeudy on the roster, quarterback Deshaun Watson will have no excuses for not meeting his contractual expectations. The Browns have made significant efforts to provide Watson with ample talent, so now it’s up to him to perform in crucial moments.

Browns’ offensive weapons could lead to a promising season

Cooper, who joined the Browns in 2022, had his best season to date last year, despite playing with four different quarterbacks. He achieved 72 catches for a career-high 1,250 yards and five touchdowns, aiming to improve these numbers this season.

Jeudy, on the other hand, did not quite meet expectations with the Broncos, who drafted him in the first round in 2020. His best season was in 2022, with 67 catches for 972 yards and six touchdowns. As the WR2 in Cleveland, Jeudy won’t necessarily need to put up those numbers but his presence should relieve defensive pressure on Cooper.

If Jeudy and the other offensive playmakers perform well, the Browns could be an exciting team to watch in 2024. The offense struggled with finding a healthy quarterback last year, but if Watson stays healthy, there’s a good chance the Browns will deliver another thrilling season.
