By now, we should be aware that contemporary athletes communicate via social media. Justin Fields, the quarterback for the Bears, may have communicated with the team considering a trade of him.
Fields no longer follows the Bears on Instagram, according to Jenna Lemoncelli of the New York Post.
Fields must be attempting to make a point. He could be criticizing the extended period of uncertainty he has been living in. It’s possible that he’s just not happy that the team hasn’t been very clear about its commitment to him.
It’s still unclear how the Bears plan to proceed. It seems that the Bears enjoy it that way as well. First off, it might give them more clout in all they do. Secondly, they can claim that whatever they do was always their original plan.
There are four possible outcomes: Fields could be traded and the first overall pick could be used to draft a quarterback; Fields could be kept and the pick could be used to draft a quarterback lower on the draft board; or, theoretically, Fields could be kept and the first pick could be used to draft a quarterback who, depending on Fields’ performance, could be benched for a year or two.
In any case, nobody can predict what the Bears will do. That is the right course of action, even though it may irritate some Bears supporters and Fields.
