Tyreece Campbell signs new Charlton Athletic contract - BBC Sport

We’ve received confirmation regarding the duration of Tyreece Campbell’s new contract.

“The 20-year-old winger, who has been with the Addicks since the age of nine, has agreed to a two-year contract, with the club having the option to extend it by an additional year.”

Campbell’s performances fluctuated last season, showing moments of promise particularly as a substitute towards the end. He began the season positively under Holden’s management, but his position was frequently changed by Michael Appleton. It seemed that Campbell struggled to adapt when played centrally by Appleton, who utilized him in various roles. However, when used by Jones, he was deployed in positions that maximized his strengths.

In my opinion, his most effective position is on the left side of a front three, allowing him to cut inside onto his favored right foot. Despite his youth and seemingly reserved demeanor, Campbell possesses potential. While Appleton’s management may have affected his confidence negatively, Jones evidently sees promise in him and aims to nurture his development.

Jones has expressed his desire to foster the growth of Charlton’s young talents rather than relying on players from other teams. This suggests that there is still more to come from Campbell as he continues to develop under Jones’s guidance.
