Under the hats and beards, there were some faces you might not recognize from Celtic’s Christmas Day video message to supporters.
In between the outtakes featuring players who have trouble remembering their lines, Callum McGregor and Brendan Rodgers delivered the direct, joyous message to the fans.
Rocco Vata, Kwon Hyeok-hyu, and Yuki Kobayashi—who haven’t received a single minute of playing time this season—were present to deliver their messages.
There is little chance that the Irish u-21 internationalist Vata, who is in his third season of play in the Lowland League, will prolong his Celtic contract.
Kwon, who transferred from South Korean Second Division team Buson I Park this summer, has started just twice for Celtic, but he has yet to make his debut.
Kobayashi joined Celtic from Vissel Kobe a year ago. He has since fallen in the rankings, looking to be a sixth-choice central defender. He is anticipated to return to the J-League next month.
On the video message, Ben Siegrist, Marco Tilio, and Nat Phillips also appear.
