A unanimous red card decision on club TV is sparked by a flashpoint, and Adam Idah is accused of an unseen Celtic “punch.”

The striker has impressed since making the loan move to the Premiership from Norwich City.

As Celtic destroyed Dundee, Simon Donnelly feared that Adam Idah had delivered a “punch” in a heated dispute.

The champions dominated Tony Docherty’s 10-man team at Celtic Park, establishing a commanding 6-0 lead at halftime at Parkhead. It was a Scottish Premiership saunter for the winners. Even though Celtic had a five-goal lead with to goals from Idah, Cameron Carter-Vickers, Matt O’Riley, Daizen Maeda, and Greg Taylor, supporters were uneasy after the Ireland captain got into a physical altercation with Ricki Lamie.

The Dundee defender looked to shove Idah over after he was flagged offside and he went back up the pitch. Referee Matthew MacDermid reached for the yellow card when the striker violently threw Lamie to the ground. VAR declined to step in during the drama, and Lamie managed to escape being booked for his involvement in the altercation.

On Celtic TV, Peter Grant expressed worry that the Norwich City loanee’s situation may have been far worse. Donnelly agreed, saying the player was fortunate to escape a red card. “I think he is onside,” he said. There’s a hint of dissatisfaction on his part.

Adam can’t do that, for sure, but I know Lamie can’t do what he does. Since they say you’re at risk if you lift your hands these days, I’m relieved it’s just a reservation.

Onnelly also acknowledged that, with the match against Hearts rapidly approaching, he was worried the frontman may receive a red card. The former Celtics player continued, saying, “We weren’t sure if he had punched someone.” He’s shoved him.

“You watch the more seasoned players approach and converse. I believe I saw Joe Hart fall. He’s a boy on form; all he needs to do is get his act together. He appeared just in time. He has been a true gem for Celtic, scoring significant goals. Thus, nothing absurd in the second half.
